The DEJ is the Dermal-Epidermal Junction. It is the basement membrane where the dermis and epidermis meet that helps support the skin’s structure. As we age, key proteins break down in this area increasing the visible signs of aging. During youth, this junction is very “wavy”. With age, this junction flattens and skin becomes more slackened.
